Summer 2010

Well we have been home now for 2 months, the weather has been real good - a little too humid but sunny and warm most of the time. Buffy and I have been visiting family and friends. When we got here one of our grandsons graduated from Kung Fu class and we went to watch ( he is the one next to the girl with the red bow in her hair).



Below Owen received a medal for great attendance.



We have tried to spend time with as many family and friends that we can.













Even with all the family dinners and visits we have had some time to enjoy some of Ohio's winerys.
















Well we finally found a wine that Buffy likes, $27 dollars a bottle!

Last week we went to New Hampshire to visit Paul & Jay who we met in Tucson AZ three years ago and became good friends. While we were there I made a call to Tony & Cathy and set up a lunch date in Massachusetts at the Yankee candle shop. We got a wonderful surprise their son, his wife, Tony's sister and her husband also came to say hello. We had a wonderful lunch and then did some shopping at the candle shop.





The store took a couple of hours to go through. It has several rooms and all of them had a different theme. The place was so big the only way Buffy could see it was to get her a wheelchair which they supplied. She would not let Tony push her at all.







The rest of the week was not good for Buffy she was tired and did not want to do much. So Paul took me to Boston to sight see.














The USS Constitution also know as "Old Ironsides," is docked in the Charlestown Navy Yard. It is the oldest commissioned warship still afloat in the world. Twice a year the ship is turned to allow even wear on both sides.



Now it was time for lunch where everybody knows your name. They lied they did not know who we were, And NO we did not see Norm.

Boston Holocaust Memorial

Near the Freedom Trail there are 6 towers 54 feet high. Each tower represents one of the 6 major Nazi death camps: Majdanek, Chelmno, Sobibor, Treblinka, Belzec, and Auschwitz-Birkenau. The glass of the towers appear slightly frosted. Look closely at the third picture, and you'll see that the glass is not actually frosted - it's etched with random numbers - 6 million in all.
These six glass towers were erected in 1995 by concentration camp survivors living in Boston.





Situated on a hilltop with a panoramic view of the Grand Monadnock, the Cathedral of the Pines is a breathtaking open-air cathedral and meeting space on 236 acres. The historic monuments honor the service of American men and women-both military and civilian. They welcome visitors from all over the world to participate in the events and to explore the extraordinary sanctuary grounds, and meditate in outdoor chapels and gardens. In December 2008 an ice storm took down around 200 pine trees that were around 100 years old, they were approximately 80 to 100 feet tall.






Paul and I took a day and went to Portsmouth NH. It is a quaint sea side town with some unusal shops and great restaurants. Settled in 1623, Portsmouth claims to be the nation's third-oldest city. Portsmouth, N.H., a city of roughly 21,000 people, sits near the mouth of the Piscataqua River.







Paul and I went on a hike one day and took the short trail up the mountain. The sign said 1.4 miles but we think it was 3.5 miles or longer. When we got to the top it was all worth it.






We have enjoyed all the company that have stopped by to spend some time with us.










Buffy's health is doing good and on Tuesday she has a CT scan and a doctors apt. on Friday. The doctor that she has been seeing here in Ohio put her on oral chemo pills. The pills have made her tired more and she has been cold most all the time.

We are planning to leave Ohio around the 1st of September so this will be my last update till then. When we get on the road back to AZ I will let everyone know where we are and what we are doing.
